ARTIST STATEMENT. Visual artist Olga Burmistrova

My art is a reflection of my inner world, a visual representation of my thoughts, feelings and experiences. With my works, I try to evoke a reaction from the viewer, make him think or just impress his imagination.

My main media are photography and digital art. But I like to experiment and explore different aspects of my work.

I find inspiration in nature, everyday life, human experience and create surreal art by experimenting with various techniques and materials.

Recently, I began to depersonalize the characters in my works. This is done in order to tell a story not about a particular person, but about all people, so that the viewer can imagine himself in this person. When the portrait is impersonal, it is easier for the viewer to fantasize.

The idea of escapism is central to my work. I break away from reality, immerse myself in memories, create utopian worlds and offer to go with me to the fantasy world to anyone who wants to heed this call.
